The Washington Commanders and Buffalo Bills fell at the final hurdle to Super Bowl LIX on Sunday evening as their seasons ended in Championship game defeats.

The Commanders were soundly beaten by the Philadephia Eagles, suffering a 55-23 defeat at Lincoln Financial Field, while the Bills again lost a thriller to the Kansas City Chiefs, this time going down 32-29 at Arrowhead Stadium.

While the Eagles and Chiefs prepare for the Super Bowl, the offseason starts now for the Commanders and Bills, who will now go to work on ensuring they go at least one step better next season.

DAZN News takes a look at what each side needs to do next.

Buffalo Bills: Be aggressive

While it’s not quite as devastating as Buffalo’s early ‘90s run of losing four Super Bowls in a row, Josh Allen’s fourth playoff defeat to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in five years will take a while to get over.

With the Bills having won five AFC East titles in a row and having won 48 regular season games during the past four years, they don’t have major gaps on the field to address and won’t see a free agency exodus this offseason.

The Bills will have a healthy amount of draft picks this year, including an extra second-round selection from Houston as part of the Stefon Diggs trade, two fourths and three in round six, while they can expect to add at least two more compensatory picks.

That gives them the ammo to move up if spot an impact player that they hope could make the difference if they find themselves at Arrowhead Stadium again next January.

Allen will turn 29 this summer, but these are his prime years and the Bills Super Bowl window will not be open forever. Buffalo need to attack this offseason and, most of all, not feel sorry for themselves.

Washington Commanders: Do whatever it takes to help Jayden Daniels

While the romantics out there wanted to see Jayden Daniels’ sensational rookie season continue all the way to New Orleans, the realists feared that this excellent Philadephia team would be too much for them.

And so it passed, but Dan Quinn’s Commanders are well ahead of schedule the building blocks for future success are in place. They have their franchise quarterback and after Daniels produced perhaps the greatest rookie QB season in history attention must now shift to how they can hep him.

C.J. Stoud’s sophomore struggles this year in Houston are a warning of easily the the most promising rookies can regress in year two, so offensive line help in either the draft of free agency will be viral this offseason, while another wide reciever would also help Daniels next season.

Veterans such as Bobby Wagner, Zach Ertz and Jeremy Chinn are all heading for free agency, so Washington also need to be smart about who they look to re-sign, as experienced heads are needed in a young locker room.

This has been Washington’s best season in a generation and while we all know how hard it is to maintain success in the NFL, the future appears bright in DC.
