The NFL's two conference championship games happened last night

The NFL now knows its AFC and NFC champions. The AFC Champions Kansas City Chiefs and NFC Champions San Francisco 49ers will contest Super Bowl 58.

Championship Sunday featured two pulsating contests. Here are the results from both games.

Baltimore Ravens 10 - 17 Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs triumphed in Baltimore to punch their return ticket to the Super Bowl. The reigning champions rode a stifling defensive performance to another AFC Championship win.

MVP-elect Lamar Jackson struggled all day. The Chiefs sacked Jackson four times. Add that to a back-breaking red zone interception; it was a day to forget for Jackson.

The Ravens also had an earlier red zone turnover when rookie Zay Flowers saw the ball punched out at the goalline. Mix in various self-inflicted penalties for ill-discipline, and the Ravens arguably cost themselves a Super Bowl berth.

This is the fourth AFC Championship win for the Chiefs in the last five years. They are now the clear dynasty of the present-day NFL.

No team has won back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots of the mid-2000s. But with a superb defense and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs could repeat as Super Bowl winners.

Detroit Lions 31 - 34 San Francisco 49ers

In a thrilling NFC Championship game, the San Francisco 49ers completed a ferocious comeback to down the Detroit Lions. After trailing 24-7 at half-time, the 49ers roared back to win 34-31.

Critical drops from the Lions and a costly fumble in their territory cost the Lions dearly. But the 49ers did what experienced teams do and punished them.

After knocking on the door for several seasons, the Niners and their all-star team are back in the Super Bowl, hoping to end their nearly three-decade Super Bowl drought.
