Ryan Garcia explains reasoning behind rehydration clause for Gervonta 'Tank' Davis fightDAZN

The build-up for Gervonta 'Tank' Davis vs. Ryan Garcia on April 22 has stepped up a gear after the pair went face-to-face for the first time at two press conferences earlier this week.

As expected, the two engaged in heated verbal exchanges ahead of what should be a huge occasion at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and now Garcia has made a huge revelation when it came to the stipulations for the fight.

The contest is set to take place at 136lbs, and when speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, Garcia revealed that Davis' team insisted on a 10lb rehydration clause for the 24-year-old being put in place in order for the fight to go ahead.

"I thought everything was signed and done, and last minute they threw that at me," Garcia said.

"Another thing was that they agreed to 138 and then two weeks later they said they were not doing it unless you were 136.

"There’s a lot of things they hit me last minute with."

Some may see this stipulation as a form of mind games from Davis' camp as they look to weaken Garcia pre-fight, but 'King Ryan' believes his opponent has made a terrible mistake in draining his weight.

"I don’t even find strength in my weight or anything, I grow strength with the moment," Garcia stated.

The superfight between Davis and Garcia will air live on PPV next month, including on DAZN PPV.
