Adrien Broner picks surprise name for boxing's current number one fighter

Adrien Broner picks surprise name for boxing's current number one fighterDAZN
The American has given his verdict on boxing's current state.

After ending a two year absence from boxing in 2023 with a unanimous decision win over Bill Hutchinson, Adrien Broner returns to action later this week.

Fighting on Friday, Broner will be facing Blair Cobbs in a welterweight contest in Orlando, Florida.

Broner is a fighter who divides opinion with how he conducts himself outside of the ring, but when he speaks, people often listen.

Whilst talking to Fight Hype in the build-up to his clash with Cobbs, Broner was asked who he believes is the boxing's current number one fighter, and he decided to choose a surprise name and not someone who is currently considered one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters.

"Terence, Terence Crawford. For me it would be Terence Crawford. If we speak specifically boxing, Terence. But if we speak about who is the number one guy, Gervonta Davis," Broner said.

“When you go to a ‘Tank’ fight it’s not just a fight, it’s an event, and the world comes to see him. A lot of people want to see him win, a lot of people want to see him lose.”

Davis returns to action on June 15 when he defends his WBA lightweight title against Frank Martin live on Prime Video PPV in the US (click here for more information).
