Amanda Serrano retracts headbutt allegations against Katie Taylor, says she'll 'be ready' for potential trilogy fightDAZN

Amanda Serrano's apparently had a change of heart.

The Puerto Rican lost in her rematch against Katie Taylor on Friday night, with the unanimous decision in Taylor's favour greeted by boos from many in attendance at AT&T Stadium. During the bout, Serrano suffered a deep cut above her right eye after Taylor's head made repeated contact with the area, prompting Serrano to use part of the post-fight interview to accuse her rival of intentionally headbutting her

That accusation was followed by Serrano taking to social media with a post that stated Taylor's "best attribute is her head," along with numerous posts questioning the judges' decision to award the fight to the Irish star.

However, by late Saturday morning Serrano appeared to reverse course on her stance, with the 36-year-old writing a lengthy post on X (formerly Twitter) congratulating Taylor on the victory and retracting her claim that her opponent deliberately used her head to inflict damage.

"Tempers are flared when you’re in the heat of battle & you say things you shouldn’t say," Serrano wrote. "I’m not one to ever disrespect an opponent & these were never my intentions to Katie. She & I are cool outside the ring and the best dance partners in the ring. In no way should I ever had said she did it purposely, it’s her style that makes for them.

"I’m Not perfect and tho I try my hardest to be the nicest person I can be I’m human & being emotionally hurt can sometimes misguide you in what you say."

Serrano even teased a potential third bout against Taylor in the future.

"I’m ok, I’m heathy a bit bruised and cut but still blessed beyond belief," she wrote. "We both came out with our health intact & that’s what I prayed for.

"Whenever our teams can agree on a Trilogy I’ll be ready. I hope you guys all enjoyed women’s boxing at its highest level."
