One fighter impressed recently.

Jesse Rodriguez believes he’s one of the best fighters on the planet after he stopped Juan Francisco Estrada last month.

The Texas man produced one of the best performances of his career as he climbed off the canvas to defeat the Mexican veteran and become WBC super-flyweight champion in front of his home crowd.

The result is the latest in a series of quality performances from Rodriguez who is quickly becoming one of boxing’s biggest attractions.

The 24-year-old was delighted with the win, and he was quick to state that his recent outings should be recognised within the sport.

“I didn’t really care about the pound-for-pound list at first, but when I was put on it, it happened after I beat Sunny Edwards and it felt better than winning the fight,” said ‘Bam’ when speaking to the press after the fight.

“So staying on the pound-for-pound list along with the other great fighters is an honour. Before the fight, moving up that list was talked about, especially if I stopped him, and I’m definitely in the top five pound-for-pound.”
