Anderson Silva is taking the threat of Jake Paul seriously as he prepares to face the popular YouTuber this weekend.
Although largely known for his exploits inside the octagon as a UFC superstar, Silva’s boxing experience in recent times is limited to wins over Tito Ortiz and Julio Cesar Chavez. He’s still expected to provide Paul with his sternest test to date.
Paul has expressed an eagerness to prove himself in the boxing ring and a win over Silva will help his credentials.
After watching fights with Tommy Fury and Hasim Rahman Jr fall through, Paul takes on Silva and starts the contest a slight favourite. Despite his limited fighting experience, Paul’s abilities are being respected seriously by Silva.
“There’s a lot of people who are saying Jake is no good, he’s not as good a striker,” said Silva when speaking to BoxingScene.
“To me the fight is a fight and I’m training hard to win this fight. I’m not looking at this as an easy fight for me. Every single fight is dangerous once you step through the ropes.”
“I’m not going to lose. Nothing will affect my legacy. I’ve worked hard for many years to do something like this for my fans. This is one more fight, one more challenge for myself, but this won’t affect my legacy and career.”
