Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will meet again, this time in the boxing ring.
The two former UFC fighters have fought twice before. First at UFC 117 on Aug. 8, 2011, in the headline slot for the card. The five-round war was looking like a win for Sonnen before Silva submitted him in the final minutes of the fifth and final round. That fight was recently announced as an inductee in the upcoming 2024 UFC Hall of Fame.
They rematched on July 7, 2012, in the main event at UFC 148. Sonnen lost again, this time via a second-round TKO. Both fighters have since retired from MMA.
Their rematch was announced by Spaten Fight Night for June 15 in Brazil. No details in terms of rounds, weight, or if the fight will be professional or exhibition have been announced yet. The fight is being called Silva's "grand finale" after 46 MMA bouts and six boxing fights.
