The boxing legend reveals the superstars who are currently the face of the sport and adds a third name as well.

When sweet science aficionados talk the face of boxing today, one fighter's name should come to mind whether it's Canelo Alvarez, Gervonta Davis or Terence Crawford.

However, Andre Ward recently debated that very topic with Andre Berto and Andre Dirrell on his All The Smoke Fight and the boxing legend explained why two superstars should share being face of the sport.

"If I had to say who is the face of boxing now, I think the face of boxing is a two-headed monster right now," Ward began explaining. "I think it's Gervonta Davis — you cannot deny what he's done, you cannot deny what he generates and you cannot deny the performances — and you also cannot deny what Canelo Alvarez has done for a very long time."

Ward sees commonalities between Alvarez and Davis, especially the way they were each ushered into professional boxing.

"I think one thing they both have in common is Gervonta had Floyd Mayweather," Ward said. "Floyd Mayweather gave a cold alley-oop to Gervonta, Gervonta took the alley-oop and took it to the next level.

"If you look at the history of Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez had an amazing alley-oop from Oscar De La Hoya," he continued. "The biggest fighter in the game at one point in time and the biggest Mexican fighter before Canelo came along, Oscar was in that position for a long time. He got Canelo at the press conference 'hey, hey, hey, this is my fighter Canelo Alvarez.' Plus, you got a whole country behind you that's rich in boxing history."

Ward added: "But you got to give both of those fighters credit because they took the alley-oop and they did something with it. A lot of fighters fumble the bag or they fumble the alley-oop, they fumble the ball. They didn't do that."

All said, that's why Ward evokes the names of Davis and Alvarez when thinking about the face of boxing but added "but then you also can't leave out Terence Crawford" closely behind.
