Anthony Joshua praised Tyson Fury as ‘a go-getter’ ahead of an expected announcement to confirm that the pair will meet for the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Joshua holds the IBF, WBA and WBO titles, and Fury is the current WBC belt holder.
After a year of speculation, Joshua appears to have cleared any obstacles from his path after being Kubrat Pulev last December. Fury appears set on denying Deontay Wilder any rematch, and Oleksandr Usyk seems ready to fight Joe Joyce instead of forcing a mandatory bout with Joshua.
Promoters Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum have repeatedly claimed this year to be roughly two weeks away from an agreement, but there are still further details to be ironed out.
However, Joshua told JD Sports that he expects a summer date for the first fight.
Joshua said: “June should be the date.
“Trust me. For the fans, for the people that have been calling it on for many, many months.
“Shoutout to Fury and his team as well, hungry go-getters, that’s what we are.
“UK stand up. And to the world – we’re bringing it. I can’t wait. Undisputed.”
