Anthony Joshua has some advice for fellow Brit Luke Campbell ahead of his lightweight title fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko on Saturday.
For starters, the former unified world heavyweight champion believes that Campbell must start telling himself that he’s going to beat Lomachenko in an attempt to speak the upset into existence.
"Go in there and start saying affirmations to yourself — 'I am the greatest, I'm the champion, I can beat Lomachenko,’” Joshua said, as reported by Sky Sports . "Just come to three words that you tell yourself every minute of every day, so you start believing it."
As Joshua continued his assessment, he projects that Lomachenko will put Campbell into uncomfortable situations with his boxing wizardry Saturday night, and when he does, it’s up to the Brit to answer back with complexity of his own.
"Touch to the body, feint to the body, jab to the head and if you can start setting up certain shots as they start to land, then build on that as the rounds go on because it's a 12-round fight,” Joshua continued. “It's a marathon, not a sprint.
“If he goes in there with that right mindset and takes his opportunity and seizes the moment,” he added, “he can go down in history."
Campbell and Lomachenko both made weight during their weigh-in Friday.
Now all that's left is to fight.
