The heavyweight could be back this year.

Anthony Joshua is still open to a fight with Deontay Wilder.

Wilder has lost his last two fights - last night against Zhilei Zhang and before then Joseph Parker - and has four defeats from five.

The former WBC champion has not looked the same every since his trilogy rematch defeat to Tyson Fury and at 38, he admitted that retirement could be an option.

Nevertheless, Wilder is a huge draw and one of the key figures in modern day heavyweight boxing, and he has often been linked with a meeting with Joshua.

Joshua dealt with his own defeats - twice to Oleksandr Usyk in 2022 - with three consecutive wins.

His last was in February against Francis Ngannou, and many expect him to be back this September, though an opponent has yet to be named.

Joshua spoke about the chances of fighting Wilder, and he did not turn down the idea.

“Come again if you want, but he’s got his family and there’s a life outside of boxing for him,” he said, reported BoxingScene . “I enjoy fighting in London, I enjoy fighting out here [Saudi Arabia], I enjoy fighting in America.

“It’s a blessing, and it don’t last forever. That’s why I say it with Wilder, if he wants to go again, give it another crack. But sooner or later, Father Time will catch up with you – with everyone.”
