Anthony Joshua needs to be 'lucky' to beat Oleksandr Usyk, claims David PriceMatchroom Boxing
The former British heavyweight fighter sees the new champion as a favourite.

Former British fighter David Price believes that Anthony Joshua will need to be ‘really lucky’ if he is to win his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk.

The Ukrainian fighter is due to meet Joshua in the ring in the first half of 2022, though an official date is yet to be confirmed for the fight, the title holder is now considered the strong favourite.

Joshua’s size and strength saw him favoured going into the first bout but after Usyk’s dominant and clever display opinions have reversed, and that is borne out by Price’s view.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Price said: “I just think Usyk has got his number.

“Every fighter has an opponent where that style of fighting and that man in particular... you’re just going to have to be really lucky to win the fight.

“You can be lucky, but luck also creates itself with mistakes that are made by the opponent.

“I do not think Usyk is someone that will make the mistake where he will put himself in a position to be knocked out by an Anthony Joshua punch.”

Joshua seemed reluctant to properly engage with his opponent back in September, and has been touring US gyms in order to potentially change his backroom team for a rematch.

The winner of Joshua vs. Usyk is set to fight Tyson Fury in an undisputed match-up, assuming Fury defeats Whyte when and if they meet.
