Will the pair clash again?

Anthony Joshua’s next move is still unconfirmed, but the former world champion continues to be linked to an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Last month, Dubois caused one of the biggest upsets of 2024 when he dropped Joshua four times on his way to a fifth-round stoppage victory.

In the immediate aftermath of the fight, Joshua’s career was speculated to head in multiple directions with retirement even mentioned by some within the boxing community.

The manner of Joshua’s loss has prompted some to suggest that a Dubois sequel is a bad move, but Teddy Atlas believes Joshua should be the one to make the decision.

Ngannou v Ferreira

After losing to Andy Ruiz in 2019, Joshua took advantage of a rematch clause and settled the series immediately with a resounding points win.

That fight could be a big factor in Joshua pursuing a second bout with Dubois, and Atlas, the trainer of Mike Tyson, insists Joshua should have the freedom to plot his own career.

“Anthony Joshua has been around a long time. He’s been a champion, he lost, he came back, he’s been a gold medalist, he’s beloved in his home country. Anthony Joshua has earned the right to make his own decision,” said Atlas when speaking to IFLTV

“If Anthony Joshua and his people want a rematch without a fight in between, he’s experienced enough to do it. It’s not like he hasn’t been down that road before.

“He has been down that road with Andy Ruiz. He didn’t take a tune-up. He made changes, he came back, he won. If that’s what Anthony Joshua chooses, he wants to do and he believes in doing. Yeah, he should do it.”
