Former world champion Sergio Mora explained how Anthony Joshua could defeat Deontay Wilder.
Joshua fought last weekend against Robert Helenius, a late replacement for Dillian Whyte, and he stopped his opponent in the seventh round to make it consecutive victories for 2023.
In his sights is a January match-up with former WBC champion Wilder in Saudi Arabia, but for now he is working with Derrick James on changing his approach.
Joshua has three defeats to his name, two to Oleksandr Usyk, and another to Andy Ruiz, and Mora described how that experience may have changed the former unified champion, and what skill he could employ to claim a third victory, this time against Wilder.
He told the DAZN Boxing Show: “It happens. Either you get old or you get clipped. Champions think about longevity.
“I think we’re not seeing the same Anthony Joshua. It’s not only aggression, it’s head movement. Head movement, body shots, roughing up the bigger man. Fighters like Wilder, they’re not good with their legs.
“What did [Tyson] Fury do? Used the whole ring, the jab, wrestling on the inside , these are things Joshua can do, he has the size, he has the power. The good thing is he came back with a sensational one-punch knockout.
“That’s going to feed the old monster to want to do that again, but the bad thing is once he gets clipped, how’s he going to react?”
