Anthony Joshua vs. Dillian Whyte: How many times have they fought? Who won their previous fights?DAZN

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte know each other well.

A large bulk of their careers have ran side by side and the pair have also shared the ring with each other to determine who's the better fighter.

They'll face each other again on August 12 but what has happened in their previous encounters?

How many times have Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte fought?

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte have shared the ring on two occasions with one bout taking place in the amateur code and the second fought under professional rules.

The pair have been close to securing a third bout but previous talks to stage that contest have always fallen through until now.

August 12 will see the pair meet for a third time.

What happened in the first fight?

Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte were both novice amateurs when they first met in 2009. The contest was Whyte's first bout sporting an amateur vest and he was able to secure victory via a points decision after three rounds.

The result was intended to be a platform for Whyte to push on and enjoy success in the unpaid code but he turned professional two years later and signed with Frank Maloney.

Joshua improved after the result and collected Olympic gold three years later in London.

What happened in their second fight?

In 2015, both Joshua and Whyte had been guided brilliantly and were seen as genuine contenders for future heavyweight glory.

Due to their amateur contest six years earlier, the fight had enough spice to attract a mainstream audience and the pair went at it inside a congested O2 Arena with British honours up for grabs.

Despite hurting Joshua in the fight's second session, Whyte couldn't hold his grip on the fight as Joshua began to take over at the halfway point.

In the seventh session, the Watford man was relentless and he found a stunning uppercut to end what had been an unforgettable fight.
