Eddie Hearn cannot guarantee a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will ever go ahead.
Hearn believes that Fury’s team never really wanted to fight Joshua ahead of Deontay Wilder, and the WBC champion is set to fight the Bronze Bomber in July.
Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn explained that Joshua does not care who he has to fight to become undisputed, so there is not necessarily any desire to fight Fury once he takes on Wilder.
“It sounds easy to do, but at no point have the Fury team said. ‘Let’s get this fight locked in for December.’ They’ve just gone completely quiet,” he said.
“The focus has always been the final belt, it was not Tyson Fury.
“For years and years when it was Deontay Wilder... There was a meeting several years ago where Deontay Wilder was made an offer for the AJ fight
“I always felt that he had to take that offer, he didn’t take it, he went with Tyson Fury."
