Anthony Yarde prepared for a potential rematch with Lyndon Arthur by splattering Alex Theran in the opening session. Yarde is desperate to prove himself once more against the Manchester man but it’s hard to figure out what he would've learnt in tonight’s fight against an overmatched opponent.
Yarde closed the distance early in the first round and when a well-timed left hook hit Theran’s body, the Columbian hit the deck for a nine count. Yarde stalked Theran and it was no surprise that he floored him for a second time with the same shot. This time, Theran couldn’t beat the count.
Yarde will now focus on Arthur, but if that return fight can’t be made, then there’s plenty of other options for the Londoner including Callum Johnson, Craig Richards and Joshua Buatsi. Despite the opportunities that lie ahead for Yarde, it’s the fight with Arthur that tempts him most as he aims to settle the score with the man who beat him last year.
