Jose Ramirez has the opportunity to upset the plans of Devin Haney when he faces his fellow American on May 2.

Ramirez and Haney will clash in Times Square, New York City, live on DAZN, and victory for Haney will set him up for a rematch with Ryan Garcia.

His major rival will also appear on the same show as he battles Rolly Romero knowing that victory will open the door for a sequel with Haney.

The pair clashed last year and following a bad-tempered build-up, it was Haney who had his hand raised at the end of the fight after dropping Haney three times

Garcia’s celebrations were short-lived after it emerged he had failed a drug test, and the result was changed to a ‘No Contest’ creating even more friction.

With both fighters appearing on the same card to generate bigger interest in their rematch, the pressure is on both to perform, and it is also an opportunity for Ramirez and Romero to cause big upsets and land future lucrative chances themselves.

Last year, Ramirez, a former unified world champion, was beaten by Arnold Barboza in Saudi Arabia, but Barboza, who faces Teofimo Lopez on the show, believes Ramirez can get the job done against Haney.

“I think Ramirez is gonna beat Haney," said Barboza when speaking to FightHype.

"I really do think so. I think that’s a bad fight for Haney, I think that’s a perfect fight for Ramirez.”
