Dmitry Bivol is expecting the toughest test of his career when he steps into the ring with Artur Beterbiev, and he includes his fight with Canelo Alvarez when making that assessment.
The fight, live on DAZN on October 12 (excluding the U.S. and Canada), will see the world’s two best light-heavyweights collide in a battle that will crown an undisputed champion.
In 2022, Bivol pulled off a huge upset when he retained his WBA title with an impressive win over the legendary Mexican fighter.
That fight catapulted Bivol up the pound-for-pound rankings due to Canelo’s lofty standing in the sport, but he thinks it could be more difficult against Beterbiev later this month.
“To be honest I believe that it’s the hardest test,” said Bivol when speaking to Matchroom Boxing.
“Why? Because he’s stronger. I know he’s physically stronger than Canelo. He has good technique too. Many people talked about his power, but they forget about his technique.”
