Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol are about to take part in a huge rematch as their amazing rivalry continues February 22, live on DAZN PPV.
The eagerly anticipated clash follows on from their first epic encounter last October where Beterbiev finished strong to become undisputed light-heavyweight champion.
Here, DAZN News looks back at other major rematches that gripped the sport.
Joe Louis vs. Max Schmeling 2, 1938
Joe Louis was eager for revenge over Max Schmeling when the pair met for a second time shortly before the world would be thrown into disarray with World War 2 looming.
Schmeling had been placed as the poster boy of German dominance and his win over Louis two years before the sequel made him a hero in his home nation.
Louis was keen to secure an early stoppage in the rematch and he got his wish when a well-timed body shot hurt Schmeling in the opening session.
The Detroit man followed up his initial assault with further attacks and the fight was called off with both the referee and Schmeling’s corner doing all they could to prevent more punishment.
Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier 2, 1974

The first meeting between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier was a monumental success that saw the former endure his first loss as a professional.
1974 was set to be one of the most significant years in Ali’s career and he would get it underway by attempting to settle an old score with Frazier.
Ali would gain revenge in a messy fight where he was able to combat Frazier’s attacks before launching his own.
Ali would finish the year strong by defeating George Foreman in the legendary ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fight.
Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Roberto Duran 2, 1980

Sugar Ray Leonard was eager to prove a point when he faced Roberto Duran in their immediate rematch.
Five months earlier, the pair had participated in one of boxing’s greatest ever fights and it was Duran who got his arm raised following a stunning battle.
Leonard produced one of the best performances of his career the second time around and it led to Duran exiting the contest in round eight telling the referee he did not want to continue.

Evander Holyfield vs. Mike Tyson 2, 1997

At the backend of 1996, Evander Holyfield caused a seismic shock in boxing as he sensationally upset Tyson in one of heavyweight boxing’s greatest ever battles.
The following year, they would meet again, but the fight would be remembered for all the wrong reasons thanks to Tyson’s woeful conduct.
Once again struggling with Holyfield’s incredible workrate, Tyson began to fight dirty on the inside and he defied belief when he took a chunk of Holyfield’s ear after biting it.
The contest was called off with Tyson being disqualified and the chaotic scenes that followed ensured Tyson would not be boxing for some time.
Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury 2
Two fascinating battles between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk in 2024 saw the latter become his era’s dominant fighter, but both battles were epic contests.
In the first contest, Usyk produced a stunning second half performance to become undisputed ruler, but things would be more straightforward the second time around.
Usyk had learnt more about Fury than the other way around for the rematch and after making a decent start, Usyk would not relent.
Although Fury remained a problem every second the fight was active, Usyk was able to pull ahead and win on the scorecards again.
