Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 form and history

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol stand as two of the most successful boxers in the light-heavyweight division and arguably the sport as a whole over the past decade.

The two men, both ranked favourably in pound-for-pound terms, have contested a combined total of 45 fights with 44 wins and one loss between the pair of them.

That sole defeat, of course, came when the pair first met in October, as Beterbiev handed Bivol the first defeat of his professional career by majority decision.

At the same time, Bivol became the first man to take Beterbiev the distance, with the latter man having won each of his previous fights by knockout or stoppage.

What happened in Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol's first fight?

Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol's first fight was one of the bouts of 2024, with both men entering the contest seeking to become undisputed at light-heavyweight.

The fight went the distance, and saw Bivol broadly lead on the early exchanges before the two traded rounds throughout the middle of the encounter in Riyadh.

Beterbiev's strong finish though was likely what tipped him over the edge, earning scores of 115-113 and 116-112 from two judges and a 114-114 draw from the third.

Post-fight stats however supported the loud frustration from many that Bivol was in fact the winner, with the latter landing 33.6% of his punches next to 20.1% for his rival.
