Ben Whittaker is an exciting prospect.

Ben Whittaker maintained his unbeaten run earlier this month as he stopped Khalid Graidia, but it was his showboating antics that grabbed the headlines.

Whittaker spent a decent portion of the bout performing unorthodox moves not usually seen in the boxing ring, and his actions were punished with multiple referee warnings.

After registering victory, many comparisons have been made between Whittaker and Naseem Hamed, but it’s another fighter who Whittaker credits for his style.

That man is Mario Kindelan, and the former amateur rival of Amir Khan has long been something of an inspiration for Whittaker.

“Skill-wise and boxing-wise it was Mario Kindelan, who beat Amir Khan, he was the first person that got me into the sport and made me think, ‘I want to box like him’ and he opened up my eyes,” said Whittaker when speaking to ProBox TV

“Then of course, Tommy Hearns, Pernell Whitaker and in today’s age Floyd Mayweather, they’re the ones that really got me into the sport.”
