Bob Arum was very impressed with Keyshawn Davis’ dominant win over Jose Pedraza last week but he is urging caution ahead of a potential showdown with Teofimo Lopez.
Davis, an outstanding amateur, has made an excellent start to his professional journey and he added to that with victory against Pedraza.
Davis stayed behind after his fight to watch Lopez outpoint Jamaine Ortiz and the pair even exchanged words afterwards before the official verdict was announced.
Speculation has linked both men to a contest moving forward, but Arum still think it is too early for Davis with Lopez possessing superior experience.
“He looked the best he’s looked since he’s been with us. It was not even close,” said Arum when speaking to BoxingScene.
“I know Keyshawn wants to fight him, but I think it’s a little too early for Keyshawn, although Keyshawn surprised me [Thursday] night. He was incredibly good against an experienced fighter.”
