Teofimo Lopez returns to action tonight as he defends his super-lightweight world title against the highly respected Jamaine Ortiz.
The outspoken New Yorker, one of boxing’s best fighters, has been an inconsistent performer in recent years, but his promoter, Bob Arum, believes his man can go on to become an ‘all-time great'.
In 2020, Lopez caused a huge shock when he became unified world champion at 135lbs with a big win against Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Lopez would lose those belts to George Kambosos in 2022 before capturing further glory at 140lbs with a superb win over Scotland’s Josh Taylor last summer.
“I have always thought that the future is great for Teofimo,” said Arum when speaking about Lopez to ProBox TV
“He’s a great personality and a terrific fighter. I think Lopez has the ability to be an all-time great fighter, and now that I think that he has developed a maturity to go with ability, I think he is on the way to being a great fighter.”
