Jared Anderson has been backed to emerge as a genuine heavyweight contender in 2023 by his promoter, Bob Arum.
The American prospect has long been identified as someone who will have a significant say at the business end of boxing’s glamour division, and the next 12 months is when Arum believes his man will make an impact.
Outside of the leading names at heavyweight, Anderson is seen as the man best placed to derail those who’ve operated at the top for a number of years.
All eyes are on a potential undisputed clash that will see Tyson Fury finally face Oleksandr Usyk, but Arum is also monitoring the progress of Anderson who'll have a keen eye on the entire division's happenings.
"This is going to be a big year for Jared,” said Arum when discussing the 13-0 fighter with Sky Sports. “He's come along. He's gone from a prospect to a contender, or the fringe of being a contender.
“I look at '23 as the year Jared Anderson will become a real top contender for the heavyweight title. I think the kid is massively, massively talented. I think that he will really shine next year."
