There is still no announcement as to who Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will be facing in 2024, but one fighter who it will not be is Chris Eubank Jr according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
The undisputed super middleweight champion is expected to return to the ring in May, but there appears to be issues with picking an opponent for the Mexican star.
As expected, a number of high-profile names have been linked with what would be a career-high pay day and the father of Eubank Jr, Chris Eubank Sr, put his son forward to face Alvarez.
When asked in an interview with Boxing Social to respond to Eubank Jr potentially facing Alvarez, Hearn was quick to dismiss the possibility.
“Canelo wants so much money,” Hearn said.
“You can’t generate that to fight Chris Eubank Jr, and what is Chris Eubank Jr.?
“He’s beaten a light middleweight in Liam Smith and got knocked out by a light middleweight [in Smith].
“He’s running scared from Conor Benn, who’s a welterweight, and he wants to jump up to 168 to fight Canelo Alvarez?
“No chance.”
