Nick Ball defends his world featherweight title this weekend when he headlines in his home city against Ronny Rios.
The Liverpool fighter has enjoyed a brilliant 2024 with excellent performances against Rey Vargas and Raymond Ford, with the latter giving him the WBA featherweight title.
Although Ball’s priorities are focused on this weekend, it appears that the identity of his next opponent, if successful against Rios, has likely been confirmed.
Stephen Fulton, the brilliant Philadelphian, has been installed as Ball’s official mandatory challenger should he get past Rios.
Fulton returned to action last month when he competed at featherweight for the first time with a points win over Carlos Castro.
In his previous fight, all the way back in the summer of 2023, Fulton was stopped by Naoya Inoue when aiming to cement his position as the world’s best super-bantamweight.
