Caleb Plant wants to face current world champion in his next fight

Caleb Plant wants to face current world champion in his next fightDAZN
The American spoke to The DAZN Boxing Show about his future plans.

Former world super middleweight champion Caleb Plant has his sights set on only one name when it comes to his next fight and that's current WBC world middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.

Plant's last outing came in March when he was beaten on points by David Benavidez with the latter now being pushded towards a showdown with the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

But while a setback such as this would see some boxers opt for an easier fight in an attempt to return to winning ways, Plant instead is looking to continue to challenge at the top level and made clear his desire to face Charlo on The DAZN Boxing Show

"I feel I’m so locked in on that and that’s what I want," Plant said when discussing a potential meeting with Charlo.

"If that means taking a tune-up fight in the meantime to stay busy then so be it.

"If that’s what it takes, I’m all for that and then put me back in for a big fight."

The rivalry between Plant and Charlo has been brewing over recent months and the pair came to blows in September when Plant slapped Charlo backstage when Alvarez defended his four world super middleweight titles against Jermall's twin brother Jermell.
