Callum Smith believes the defending undisputed women's lightweight champion will get the job done on Saturday night.

Former WBA super middleweight champion Callum Smith is backing Katie Taylor to beat Amanda Serrano on Saturday night, live across the world on DAZN

Smith is in New York to support his brother Liam, who faces Jessie Vargas in the chief support slot and had plenty of praise for the two women headlining at MSG.

"(A fight like Taylor Serrano) doesn’t really happen in men’s boxing. With the men, the top pound-for-pound fighters are in so many different weights," Smith told DAZN's Steven Muehlhausen.

"But Taylor and Serrano are the same weight, they’re both as good as one another and along with Claressa Shields, they’re the most successful women ever.

"For them to headline Madison Square Garden is showing that women’s boxing is getting bigger and bigger. It’s not just big for the women, it’s big for all of boxing. My hat’s off to them and may the best woman win."

Smith believes the fight itself will be an entertaining contest and expects Serrano to bring the best out of Taylor, who has received some criticism for recent performances against mandatory challengers as of late.

"I think Taylor wins on points," he said.

"I think it’ll be a very good fight and will be an exciting fight. They’ve both been in exciting fights but Taylor just knows how to win. Serrano will bring out a big performance from Taylor and I think she’ll get the nod."
