WBA champion Can Xu will still entertain a fight with Josh Warrington, despite the Briton’s upset loss to Mauricio Lara.
Warrington was the heavy favourite going into last weekend’s clash but was comprehensively beaten in the ninth round after being clearly on the back foot from round four.
Despite that defeat, Can is willing to face Warrington.
"I'm not shocked that it happened because there are always lots of upsets in professional boxing," Can told Sky Sports. "But it also reminds me that I should pay more attention to my training.
"Boxing is about confrontation and performance. No one can predict the result.
"Josh is an excellent champion," he continued. "If I were his opponent, I would not be 100 percent sure that I could defeat him by the same way like Lara did."
Warrington is focused on a rematch with Lara for now and had vacated his IBF belt in order to meet a high-profile fighter like Can later this year.
"Before that [defeat to Lara], we both made a lot of efforts for the unification bout," added Xu.
"While Warrington lost and the belt has gone, I am still willing to fight against him.
"I don't care who is the next opponent. I can fight against anyone.”
