Eddie Hearn believes that Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev are in contention to fight Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
The Mexican three-belt super middleweight champion could move from 168lbs into 175lbs to pursue another fight with a belt. He had already been up into the next weight division for a fight against Sergey Kovalev in November 2019, scoring an 11th-round knockout.
Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn explained that: “There's been some discussions with Dmitry Bivol. Over the last few weeks, that's a good fight. 175 pounds, you know, there's other options.
“He's constantly for the champions, and you're 175lbs. Joe Smith, you got Beterbiev, but I think Bivol would be that front runner. You know, he was certainly a guy that I put forward again.”
Hearn joked that Canelo might even move up to 180lbs for a fight at cruiserweight in order to face a 48-year-old former champion, with Oscar De La Hoya having suggested he could be a potential opponent.
“I want to spend just one day in the world, the planet of Oscar De La Hoya. It’ll be a fun place!”
