Who will the Mexican face next?

Canelo Alvarez is currently taking care of business at super-middleweight, but the Mexican icon does have history at 175lbs.

In 2019, Canelo jumped up to light-heavyweight to defeat Sergey Kovalev to add yet another world title to his impressive list of honours.

After returning to super-middleweight to defeat several contenders, Canelo went back up in 2022, but his attempt to become ruler were thwarted by Dmitry Bivol.

Since then, Bivol has gone on to lose to Artur Beterbiev, and the undisputed champion has been identified as a tough test for Canelo.

Elsewhere at light-heavyweight, David Benavidez is looking to make big moves after failing in his pursuit for a fight with Canelo at super-middleweight.

If Canelo doesn’t make the return, who does he consider the toughest test between Beterviev and Benavidez?

“Oh Beterbiev, yeah of course, He’s a champion,” said Canelo when speaking to KO Artists Sports.

“He has something to offer me. He’s strong, he’s in another weight.
