Edgar Berlanga will be an interested spectator when Canelo Alvarez defends his world titles against Jaime Munguia on Saturday.
The Las Vegas bout for super-middleweight supremacy will see the two Mexicans go at it in one of the year’s biggest fights.
Berlanga, who’s highly rated at 168lbs, is eager to test himself against the winner and he’s hopeful a fight with Canelo can be secured.
The Puerto Rican puncher last fought in February when stopping Padraig McCrory and he’s eyeing his next outing in September.
“I’m 100 percent confident. I know it’s gonna happen. He’s just gotta get through this weekend and we definitely gonna make it happen,” said Berlanga when speaking to BoxingScene.
“I’m the mandatory for Canelo in September, so I’m over here supporting Mexican weekend, supporting the two fighters – the main-event fighters – and showing face, man.
“I’m the mandatory, I’m the Puerto Rican superstar, so I gotta show face. I gotta come out here and show my support and try to make this fight happen for September."
