Although the chatter of Terence Crawford moving up two more weight classes to challenge Canelo Alvarez might have subsided for the time being, the super fight was broached for Mike Tyson to weigh in on recently.
Appearing on Logan Paul's IMPAULSIVE podcast, Tyson sounded pretty torn about Crawford taking on Alvarez.
"I support Crawford and Canelo both but ..." Tyson began saying before letting out a shrug and deep sigh.
At the podcast's suggestion that Canelo vs. Crawford is the fight people want to see, Tyson wasn't so sure.
"I don't think they want to see him fight Canelo," Tyson said. "You think so? You think they want to see him fight Canelo?"
When Paul retorted "Yeah, for sure" and tacked on, "I think [Crawford] wants to make history," Tyson amended his feelings on the fight.
"He wants to fight him, too? Well, to make history is worth doing it," Tyson offered.
Crawford became WBA super welterweight world champion with a win over Israil Madrimov earlier this month. To challenge Alvarez, Crawford is willing to move up from 154 pounds to 168 pounds. Alvarez is set to defend his unified super middleweight world titles against Edgar Berlanga on September 14, live on DAZN.
Tyson was in attendance to see Crawford defeat Madrimov in Los Angeles and despite the pound-for-pound great's win, "Iron" Mike isn't quite sure that Madrimov's style helped "Bud's" star profile any.
"I thought [Madrimov] was a tough guy and I'm glad [Crawford] came back the last two rounds. [Madrimov] was very awkward and strong," Tyson said. "Crawford fights anybody. I don't agree with that because you gotta look good in order for you to not mess up your next fight. If you fight this guy and you don't look good, the fans are like 'Ah, I don't want ... he's not going to look good and win with this guy.'"
Tyson added: "You got to constantly have fights you know and fight a guy that's gonna make you look good. The guy's got to pressure you or something. [Madrimov's] running around, Crawford's not used to this kind of movement. Awkward than a motherf—er."
