Riyadh Season architect Turki Alalshikh said that he had made Canelo Alvarez an offer to fight Terence Crawford.
The chairman of the General Entertainment Authority was speaking to DAZN about the rumoured megafight between the two champions.
Alvarez’s last fight was a victory over Jaime Munguia by unanimous decision, while Crawford fought Israil Madrimov last night, also getting the nod from all three judges on a score of 116-112, 115-113, 115-113.
Crawford’s victory was his first at 154lbs, but Canelo now generally operates at 168lbs, but the unbeaten American has made noises to suggest he would be willing to pack on the pounds for what would be a lucrative clash.
Alalshikh clearly agrees about how attractive the event would be, and he said: "I [gave Alvarez] an offer. If he's smart, he'll accept it.
"If they accept, we want to see this fight."
Canelo’s next fight is set to be next month, one of the traditional outings of his fight schedule, against Edgar Berlanga on September 14.
If Crawford and Canelo were to agree, presumably any date would be in 2025 to give ‘Bud’ the chance to add muscle.
