Former world champion Carl Frampton compared Luis Alberto Lopez to Naseem Hamed.
Lopez is the current IBF featherweight champion and he fights Angelo Leo tonight in New Mexico (live on ESPN in the US .)
Hamed was also a featherweight world champion known for his punching power and technical ability.
Frampton was also a world champion at the weight, as well as super bantamweight, and speaking to Sky Sports , he noted that Lopez’s power is only comparable to Prince Naseem.
"He punches like someone I've never seen before in that division. I mean you go back to Prince Naseem levels of power. He literally puts people away," Frampton said.
"Serious, serious puncher. Strange style. He doesn't typically look like the best boxer in the world but when he hits you you know all about it. I'm pretty confident that he'll retain his title."
Discussing his upset win over Josh Warrington, Frampton admitted: "I didn't know much about him [Lopez] at that stage.
"I was shocked but since I've seen the Warrington fight and everything else he's done after it, he is starting to become less of a surprise, he is a great fighter.
"He's an animal."
