Carl Froch hits back at Frank Warren regarding Joe Calzaghe - 'It's rubbish'DAZN

Carl Froch has refuted claims from Frank Warren that he didn’t want to face Joe Calzaghe when both fighters were active.

Warren, the long-time promoter of the Welshman, guided Calzaghe to many glorious nights including memorable victories over quality operators including Mikkel Kessler and Bernard Hopkins.

One name missing off Calzaghe’s unbeaten record is Froch and Warren has previously insisted that the Nottingham man had no interest in the fight.

Froch’s ledger contains a host of impressive fighters and he’s hit back at the veteran promoter by insisting he was more than willing to test himself against his British rival.

“He said Froch came to meet me to discuss a Calzaghe fight and all I was interested in was when Calzaghe was stepping up to light heavyweight because I didn't want to fight him,” said Froch when speaking to Genting Casino

“The only reason I went down from Nottingham to London, a three-hour drive in my old, battered car at the time, was to secure the fight with Calzaghe because I was mandatory for the belt. So why would I go down there and say I don't want to fight him? It's rubbish.”
