Heavyweight fighter Carlos Takam is ready to fight again and is keen to face one of Andy Ruiz Jr or Deontay Wilder.
The 40-year-old has not lost in four fights since he was beaten by Dereck Chisora in 2018, and also had a defeat to Anthony Joshua in 2017. He was lined up as a potential opponent for Tyson Fury last year when the WBC champion was looking for a tune-up fight after his proposed trilogy match with Wilder fell through.
However he could now be the boxer to get Wilder back in the ring, and he told Pro Boxing Fans of his plans.
“In 2021, I have many, many guys in my target,” Takam said.
“You have Oscar Rivas, that guy, I want to take him, make a good fight, I’ll kick his ass. You have [Oleksandr] Usyk I was supposed to fight with him, I’m going to catch him and kick his ass and then one of the fights I want to do and I know if we do that fight it’ll be a big fight, Andy Ruiz, that guy I want to fight him, he’s a good guy.
“Definitely I want to fight that guy, before I finish my career, I want to fight Andy Ruiz, really, I want to fight that guy. I like the way he fights, he’s a fighter, I like the way he moves, I like the way he fights, that guy is good for me. Then you have the fighters like Wilder. I want to fight him, some guy like Deontay Wilder, some guy like [Luis] Ortiz.
“I [want to] come back to the UK, fight Dillian Whyte or have my rematch with [Anthony] Joshua and [Derek] Chisora.”
Ruiz Jr has not fought since December 2019 when he lost his four titles to Joshua in Saudi Arabia in their rematch. Meanwhile, Wilder is in dispute with Fury over their agreement to fight once again.
Takam is ready to offer himself as a opponent to the pair should they be ready to get back in the ring.
“If they called me tomorrow and they told me, yes ‘Andy Ruiz or Deontay Wilder want to fight you’ do you think I’m going to say no I don’t want it?,” he asked.
“That kind of fight I want it to prove for people Carlos Takam is still there, I’m here, I’m waiting for the big fight, I’m waiting for the big name to show people who I am, again, who I am.”
