'I've got an idea!' - Chris Billam-Smith acknowledges retirement plans before Gilberto Ramirez bout

Chris Billam-Smith has "an idea" of how many fights he has left before retirement, ahead of his clash with Gilberto Ramirez at Riyadh Season Latino Night live on DAZN for free.

The Briton will meet the Mexican in a cruiserweight unification bout at The Venue in Saudi Arabia, putting his WBO title on the line as he chases the WBA crown too.

In Zurdo, Billam-Smith will face one of the toughest foes of his career to date, with both men having only suffered a single professional loss inside the ring so far.

But beyond that, the Bournemouth native admits that he is already looking to his life after boxing, and that he roughly knows how many more bouts before he hangs up his gloves.

"I've got an idea of how many fights," he told Sky Sports News. "I've got a few more years left. I've just turned 34, I've got a young family.

"I'm not getting any younger and stuff like that, I might be world champion to some people, but my greatest honour is being a dad.

"That's by far the thing I love most in life, is being a dad. So the fact that that the time with my son gets shortened is tough to take, tough to deal with.

"So plans for retirement started before the last fight, in terms of what I'd like to do, investments and stuff like that.

"But I still need these fights and you need the money for that reason, it's a short career, and you need that money to work for you."

Victory for Billam-Smith in Riyadh would likely pave the way to a further unification bout with Jai Opetaia, which the Briton has repeatedly suggested as his next target.
