Chris Eubank Jr. set to sign with Sauerland Promotions, could challenge Ryota Murata for world middleweight titleDAZN
A report in Germany claims Eubank will sign a promotional deal with the Sauerland brothers, with a view to challenging WBA (Super) 160lb champion Murata.

It appears as though British fighter Chris Eubank Jr. will put pen to paper on a promotional contract to join siblings Kalle and Nisse Sauerland's organisation.

German newspaper Bild believes the son of super-middleweight great Chris Eubank Sr. may have already made the deal official, and that the guidance of the Danish brothers could propel him straight back into the world title hunt.

On Saturday morning, the promoters seemed to all-but-confirm the news when they promised on Twitter that a "big announcement" was coming on Sunday, including a British flag emoji and a silouette which very much resembled Eubank Jr.

Eubank is very familiar with the Sauerlands, who help operate the well-received World Boxing Super Series tournaments. He reached the semi-finals of their super-middle bracket in 2018 but was defeated by George Groves, who would go on to lose the final to eventual Muhammad Ali Trophy winner Callum Smith.

Since then, Junior has bounced back with wins over JJ McDonagh, James DeGale and Matt Korobov. The unanimous decision over DeGale in February 2019 in particular revived fans' faith in Eubank one day becoming a world champion, but his deal with PBC and ITV ended in frustration and the COVID-19 pandemic has kept him out of the ring for a year.

With Ryota Murata this week being elevated to WBA 'Super' champion at middleweight but struggling to attract big fights within the division such as Gennadiy Golovkin and Demetrius Andrade, the Sauerlands may see this as the perfect opportunity to mint their apparent new acquisition as world championship material right out of the gate.
