Will the rivals finally meet?

Roy Jones Jr knows plenty about Chris Eubank Jr after spending a lot of time preparing the Brighton fighter in the gym.

The four-weight world champion now spends his days working with fighters, and although no longer the trainer of Jones Jr, he still follows his former man’s career.

Earlier this month, Eubank Jr continued to build momentum following his 2023 win over Liam Smith by stopping Kamil Szeremeta in Saudi Arabia.

Eubank Jr looked impressive in parts, but the bout was perhaps overshadowed by his post-fight confrontation with Conor Benn.

Ngannou v Ferreira

Eubank Jr was supposed to face his domestic rival in 2022 before issues with Benn’s pre-fight drug test prevented the showdown from taking place.

Two years on, the feud is still intense and it’s possible the pair could renew hostilities in 2025.

Canelo Alvarez is also an option for Eubank Jr, but with a Benn fight set to do huge business, that could be the direction he heads in.

Jones Jr has had his say on how the all-British showdown could play out.

“It’s a great fight. I get that Chris Eubank Jr is the bigger fighter but that’s a really good fight. It all depends,” said Jones Jr when speaking to Betway

“I do think Eubank’s style and size will be effective but that’s not the only thing because with Conor Benn, like his father, is a puncher and he will do whatever he can when that fight starts, and when that bell rings anything can happen.

“I like Eubank for his style and size, but you cannot rule out Conor Benn in that fight. Conor is a live fighter just like his father was. I know Conor Benn is a live dog in that fight so size may not be the biggest factor in it.”
