What has happened between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn?

The rivalry between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn was originally built as a generational beef, tracing its roots back to the legendary two-fight series between their fathers.

Chris Eubank Sr. and Nigel Benn met in two blockbuster bouts over three decades ago, with the former winning their first fight before a controversial split draw in the second.

At the time they were booked to meet in 2022 at London's The O2 Arena, it was the legacy of their parents that loomed as the driving factor behind their growing rivalry.

But when the fight was pulled at short notice due to an adverse finding for Benn, the antagonism between the two began to further simmer as their deal broke down.

Even as both men have moved onto other fighters, their relationship has continued to twist violently and the prospect of a grudge match on their own terms seemed likely.

The eventual agreement, after Benn confrotned Eubank Jr. in the ring following the latter's win against Kamil Szeremeta last October, removed the final stumbling blocks.

Matters came to a boil at a February press event in Manchester, when Eubank Jr. slapped Benn across the face with an egg, further amplifying the animosity between them.
