Chris Eubank Jr impresses as he drops Liam Williams four times to settle bitter rivalryDAZN
Chris Eubank Jr outclasses Liam Williams as he turns attention to world scene.

Chris Eubank Jr was too powerful for Liam Williams as he dropped his bitter rival four times before taking a wide verdict on the scorecards in Williams’ Cardiff backyard. Throughout the build-up, Eubank Jr had promised to prove he was step above Williams, and it looked like there was several levels between them after Eubank scored three knockdowns in the first four rounds.

Williams’ familiar aggressive start was quickly undone as Eubank Jr floored him with a jab at the end of the opening session. Roared on by his ardent support, Willimas tried the same approach in the second session, and it was a right hand that done the damage this time before he was counted again in round four after once again being open to Eubank Jr’s excellent jab.

Despite a disastrous beginning, Willimas didn’t lose belief in himself. The middle rounds saw him rally but he had left himself too much to do as Eubank coasted even though it appeared he was losing rounds. A questionable knockdown in the fight’s penultimate stanza removed all ambition from Williams and Eubank Jr took the fight 116-109, 116-108, 117-109 on the scorecards.

With the domestic scene firmly in his rear-view mirror, Eubank Jr is almost certain to set his sights on a marquee fight at middleweight. Can a fight with the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin and Jermall Charlo be secured? Based on this performance, it’s clear that Eubank Jr deserves another crack at the highest level after failing against Billy Joe Saunders and George Groves in previous attempts.
