Claressa Shields says Laila Ali isn't 'relevant in today's time' to ask for $5 million to fightDAZN

Claressa Shields remains hell-bent on making a super fight between Laila Ali and herself happen after the coronavirus subsides.

The self-proclaimed "GWOAT" (Greatest Woman of All Time) just doesn't think Ali, who would be coming out of retirement to fight, is in a position to ask for up to $5 million to do so. More than that, the reigning undisputed middleweight champion and the unified junior middleweight champ doesn't believe that Ali is even "relevant" enough to make such a request. And Shields didn't have any issues letting Ali know just that Monday via her Twitter account.

When further pressed by one of her Twitter followers, Shields claimed that Ali allegedly asking for an "insane split" leads her to believe that the daughter of the late Muhammad Ali isn't even serious about getting back into the ring to face her in the first place.

Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, Shields and Ali were busy taking verbal shots at each other, with each fighter vowing to soundly defeat the other. Shields, who turned 25 last week, knows that the 42-year-old Ali is a former world champ herself, but thinks that Ali's fans aren't putting enough respect on the Flint, Mich., fighter's name.

Shields is slated to fight Marie-Eve Dicaire on May 9. Whether the coronavirus allows the bout to happen remains to be seen, but Shields (10-0, 2 KOs) will have a chance to become the first female boxer to hold two undisputed crowns simultaneously, as her WBC and WBO junior middleweight titles, Diclaire's IBF strap and the vacant WBA belt will all be on the line.
