Claressa Shields: Why I call myself the GWOATDAZN

Claressa Shields is not afraid to talk about her success within the sport of boxing. Often seen wearing a necklace spelling 'GWOAT' (Greatest Woman of all Time), there is no doubt that she is one of, if not, the best women's boxer when fans take a look at her CV.

A world champion in three weight divisions which includes an undisputed reign at light middleweight, there is no doubt she is the most successful women's fighter when it comes to world honours.

Now the American is preparing for a fight which could cement her legacy as the GWOAT when she takes on WBO women's middleweight champion Savannah Marshall for the undisputed title at London's O2 Arena on September 10.

When speaking to Boxing Social at the launch press conference for the event, Shields revealed how she will be able to oversome Marshall despite concerns that the WBO champion's power could inflict the first defeat of Shields' career as a professional.

"Why I call myself the GWOAT is because even against this big, strong, tall, power puncher she’s going to see that she can’t outbox me, she can’t out-punch me," Shields said.

"You’re going to see that I am the stronger fighter even though she has more knockouts."

Shields vs. Marshall will headline an all-female card which also sees WBO and IBF super featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer taken on WBC title holder Alycia Baumgardner in a unification clash.
