Will one fighter get his wish and face Chris Eubank Jr. this year?

Nathan Heaney caused a small upset last year when he defeated Denzel Bentley to become British middleweight champion and he’s set his sights on causing an even bigger shock.

Heaney returns to action in March when he defends the Lonsdale belt against Brad Pauls, but he’s eyeing up a showdown with Chris Eubank Jr. for later this year if he can get past Pauls.

Eubank, who traded wins with Liam Smith last year, is currently planning his next move after a proposed bout with Conor Benn failed to materialise.

The former world title challenger will likely look at Heaney as a backwards step but that hasn't prevented the Stoke man from dreaming big about a possible fight at Stoke City’s Bet365 Stadium.

“Anyone at Stoke to be honest. I just want to fight at home. To fight at Stoke City is a dream,” said Heaney when speaking to the press to announce his next fight.

“Chris Eubank Jr. would be a great dance partner to do that to make sure it’d be a fantastic event. Anyone though. A British title defence, a fight at Stoke City and then with everything that’s going on in Saudi Arabia or Las Vegas, wherever in the world this can take me, that’s where I wanna go.”
