Dalton Smith can become world champion - 'This is just the start' says Eddie HearnDAZN

Eddie Hearn believes Dalton Smith can be a world champion and thinks he can become a much bigger name in boxing.

Smith is the current English champion at super lightweight and makes his second defence against Billy Allington on the Leigh Wood vs. Mauricio Lara card (live on DAZN on February 18 excluding Australia and New Zealand).

Speaking to DAZN, Hearn outlined the plan to see Smith make a third defence in the summer to earn the Lonsdale belt, before moving on to international titles.

“Our ambition for Dalton Smith is to see him become world champion at 140,” he began.

“The first step is to see him win that beautiful Lonsdale belt outright and put it on the wall. Then we move to European or fringe world level. The building process of Dalton Smith as a world fighter is underway.

“He wants to win it outright. So it’ll be Allington on the 18th and then Sheffield to win the belt outright, then we move to bigger fights. This is just the start for Dalton Smith.”
