Dalton Smith targets two major names following routine win

Dalton Smith targets two major names following routine winMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

Dalton Smith was far too good for Walid Ouizza as he stopped the outgunned Frenchman in the first round in Nottingham.

Smith was a heavy favourite to win the crown heading into the bout, but even the Sheffield man will be surprised just how easy it was.

In the build-up to the fight, some high-profile boxing figures had advised Smith to give Ouizza full respect as he could have been distracted with bigger fights on the horizon

Smith demonstrated that he was taking Ouizza very seriously as he did not put a foot wrong in the brief period the fight lasted.

Starting with painful intent, Smith was hurting the Frenchman with every shot meaning Ouizza could not settle or gain any momentum.

Repeated shots eventually floored Ouizza as the round was drawing to the close, but even though he beat the count, the end was near.

Further attacks from Smith once again put Ouizza on the floor and the referee had no choice but to make a sensible intervention.

In the immediate aftermath of his latest victory, Smith made it clear that he was targeting the biggest names in the division, and they included Devin Haney and Regis Prograis.
