Daniel Dubois vs. Joseph Parker - Former world champion has his say on potential heavyweight title clash

Will Dubois face Parker next?

Chris Algieri gives Joseph Parker a big chance to score an upset victory over Daniel Dubois if the pair can agree a fight deal.

In recent days, Parker has emerged as a serious contender to face Dubois next year after it emerged Anthony Joshua wouldn’t be ready for a February showdown with his fellow Brit.

Back in September, Dubois caused one of the biggest shocks of 2024 when he dropped Joshua four times before the bout was over in the fifth round.

The result ensured Dubois remained as IBF heavyweight champion, but it had been expected that Joshua would seek a rematch.

The next move for Dubois is still unconfirmed, but as one of the division's two belt-holders alongside Oleksandr Usyk, he’s a fighter in demand.

The London star is expected to be in action early in 2025, but could Parker be the fighter across the ring from him?

The New Zealander is in excellent form and has recently registered two huge wins over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang.

Parker has already held a version of the world title when he reigned as WBO ruler, and Algieri, a former world champion himself, believes he can have success against Dubois.

“Dubois gets confused by boxers, and Joseph Parker has a lot of ways to win,” said Algieri when speaking to ProBox TV

“The guy has a lot of versatility, and I don’t think Dubois has seen anything near that other than Usyk, and you saw how that showed up. It was a lot of frustration, and it looked to me like he quit.”
